An Tallas Solais and The highland Print Studio are jointing hosting an exhibition of prints which opens tomorrow, at A Dallas Solais, in Ullapool.
‘Arctic Cracking’ is the name of a large 5-layered, framed Screen Print of Blomstrandbreen, which is a majestic glacier close to Ny Alesund.
So far this print has travelled thousands of miles…after being conceived in a sketchbook whilst sitting on snow and ice, looking at the glacier, it was re-constructed in layers, using ink on acetate. The ink paintings were then transferred onto five screens, colours were mixed and the layers were printed on to large sheets of thick pale peach coloured paper.
The printing and framing all happened at at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, where Georgia was running a post-graduate course in 2018 and 2019.
‘Arctic Cracking’ was first exhibited at 501 Xu Space Gallery in Chongqing before journeying round the world in a shipping crate, to Scotland.
‘Arctic Cracking’ Screen Print is part of an edition of 12 prints, several of which will be for sale in Edinburgh on Tuesday the 26th of March, at Dynamic Earth, part of Science day, at Arctic Science Summit Week 2024.
